Provo City Center Temple Family| Utah Family Photographer| Amber Prusse Photography
Watching families grow is one of my absolute favorite things. EVER.
I first met this family while doing their maternity photos when they were expecting that sweet boy Gavin! Then a little while later, we met again for Gavin's newborn photos! I also follow Carolyn on instagram and seeing all the cute things this sweet family did made me love them even more.
When Carolyn messaged me to do their spring family photos, I was so excited! It had been almost a year and a half, and I was so excited to see how Ambree had adjusted to being a big sister. She wasn't to keen about Gavin when we first met.
We met at the Provo City Center Temple for family photos and it was beautiful! The flowers were in full bloom and the weather was just perfect. I loved following this family all around the temple. Watching Ambree and Gavin play with each other, Tyler and Carolyn watching them; it was all beautiful.
One of my favorite things to do when I have family sessions, is to get mom and dad away for a second. I love taking engagement like photos of the mom and dad because I think it is so important for parents to be able to look at pictures of them in love. When you are married for awhile, you don't take time to take kissy selfies. It's all about the kids! I know that, because I fall into the same rut. But when I get moms and dads in front of the camera, there is a whole new vibe to the shoot. It is so important for children to see their parents in love!
So when you decide to book your family photos, be prepared to be kissing on your spouse. You deserve it!

Family pictures are some of my absolute favorites! When it comes to getting ready for pictures, it's easy to get overwhelmed. Which is why I am here to help! Let's talk about a couple of things to help you prepare for your family session.
Paisley certainly loved her new little brother. She was all about kisses and loves. One of my favorite parts of this session was towards the end when Paisley and her dad showed me all of their dance moves! They even had their own routine! I hope that they will continue to dance with each other over the years!
We met up Provo Canyon so early in the morning! But in order to get the best light and have a happy baby, we decided that an early morning session would be best. And it was! It was the BEST!! We got there at 7 am and the grass was still dewy. It was just peaceful! I love this location in Provo Canyon because it looks amazing all year round. That tall grass and beautiful mountain view make the perfect setting for any kind of photo session.
I love photographing in this field. It’s in a really unexpected place in Highland, UT and it is perfect! The golden fields bring such a warmth to the pictures. It is one of my favorite places to go for the family mini sessions I photograph! It's great because it looks the same all year round, so it is great if you want a location that looks great during Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer!
Do you have a question about family sessions? Here is a blog post answering my most asked questions!
If you look at this first picture, you will see four beautiful little girls. I photographed the sweet little girl on the left's newborn photos a few years ago when the twin girls were just a little under 2 years old! They are now almost four and have a brand new baby sister! I loved watching the girls aw and smile at the new baby.
I arrived at the location, and I looked over and saw this beautiful family get out of their car. I saw their outfits and those adorable cheeks on that baby boy and I got so excited for this mini session! Dakota's dress is one of my favorite's of all time! It looks so flattering on her. Seeing her in it, took me all of my control not to go home and buy it myself! If you want the perfect example on how to dress your family for family photos, this family is it!
The Hafen family has gone through a lot of trials before sweet baby Owen was born. Shanda suffered through several miscarriages between her sweet girl Aria and Owen. It was such a struggle and Shanda was kind enough to share some words with me about her experience with bringing Owen to the world that I would love to share. Her words about her love for her babies here on earth and in heaven are ones of hope. And I loved reading her experience. I hope you will too.
I absolutely love in-home family sessions. Especially when there is a new baby involved. As some of you know, I used to be more of a styled newborn photographer. I would put naked babies in cute and adorable poses, wrap them up in swaddles and put them in baskets. I think the styled newborn photography, is absolutely adorable. It is definitely a work of art. And it's a lot of work. I recently have changed to a more lifestyle type of photography and I am loving it!
I want to share one of my favorite family sessions from Mini Sessions this past fall! They are a great example of how to prepare for a family session!
