My Most Embarrassing Moment | Amber Prusse Photography
I'm scared of snakes. I hate snakes. They are the worst creatures on the entire planet. They suck and I hate them. Like, I kind of wish Noah would have just left them behind during the flood. They are nasty.
When I was a little girl, I ran into three rattlesnakes in one summer. And my dad said if I ran into one more that summer, I would have to kill it myself. Luckily, I didn't have to! So yeah. I have a huge fear of snakes. So here goes my most embarrassing moment as a photographer.
So! I get an inquiry for a session. It's a family from my husband's mission! I was super excited to meet them! We met at Big Springs Park up Provo Canyon. We are walking down into the field, and low and behold, a Gardner snake slithers across the path. Of course, I freak out and make everyone aware that there are little snakes. This was an older family with no little kids, so they handled themselves just fine! Too fine in fact. Because the son started looking for them and trying to capture them!!! I can't quite remember, but I don't think he actually caught one. Or maybe my memory is just blocking that out.
So I get them all situated and posed for that first picture, and I take a step back and the dad goes, "CAREFUL SNAKE!" I jumped so high and yelled, "OH SH**!!!" They luckily thought it was hilarious and quickly forgave me. I recovered and continued the session. And it turned out awesome. I love Big Springs Park in the fall. It is gorgeous and perfect for any kind of session.
So let's review some of the information here. I'm terrified of snakes and I sometimes swear. In fact, sometimes a swear a lot. Especially when snakes are involved.
Rhyme and Prose is such a cute shop that I had the honor of doing a commercial shoot for! Karen contacted me about what goes into a commercial shoot because she had invested in one before! I was so excited to be her first professional Utah Commercial Photographer for her store! She was thrilled to be launching her adult line of clothes and wanted to make sure that these products would be taken care of and modeled the way she was envisioning.

I want to share one of my favorite family sessions from Mini Sessions this past fall! They are a great example of how to prepare for a family session!
Family pictures are some of my absolute favorites! When it comes to getting ready for pictures, it's easy to get overwhelmed. Which is why I am here to help! Let's talk about a couple of things to help you prepare for your family session.
At the beginning of the summer, we had a family meeting and planned out our summer and we set several goals to help us have a great summer. Even though the summer is half over, you can still create a summer bucket list! There is plenty of time to have so much fun! So here are some of your ideas to do with your kids!
This is why I am a lifestyle photographer and family videographer. I want to capture your family, in this moment, right now. Because this time is so fleeting. And having these memories is all that we will have left someday. Let’s capture your memories now. Don’t wait for those 10 pounds to come off. Don’t wait until you have fancy clothes. It honestly doesn’t matter. The time is now.
I love listening to podcasts. They are short and sweet and they are part of my daily routine! I love listening to a variety of shows ranging from self help, business improvement to true crime! Here are some of my favorites!
Paisley certainly loved her new little brother. She was all about kisses and loves. One of my favorite parts of this session was towards the end when Paisley and her dad showed me all of their dance moves! They even had their own routine! I hope that they will continue to dance with each other over the years!
We met up Provo Canyon so early in the morning! But in order to get the best light and have a happy baby, we decided that an early morning session would be best. And it was! It was the BEST!! We got there at 7 am and the grass was still dewy. It was just peaceful! I love this location in Provo Canyon because it looks amazing all year round. That tall grass and beautiful mountain view make the perfect setting for any kind of photo session.
As a Utah Family Photographer, I have heard many reasons and excuses as to why someone shouldn’t get their family pictures taken. Some are pretty silly, but others are valid concerns. But at the end of the day, your family is still the #1 most important thing in your life. And it is my greatest honor to take your love for your family and put it somewhere you can see it every day. In a picture.
If you follow me on Instagram, you probably saw the reel that went semi-viral. I recorded this in a studio after one of my sessions. In fact, lets just watch it right now. https://www.instagram.com/p/CNSh-odBV1i/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link
