Jazzy and Journey
I met Jazzy back in December when I was taking her family's photos and I knew she was one special gal.
Jazzy is 22. She has Down syndrome and Type 1 Diabetes for which there is no cure. She is a cute, sassy, fun-loving little lady. She was diagnosed with diabetes at age 10. For the 1st 11 years after dx she was very healthy and had few complications from her Type 1 Diabetes. The past year she has had lots of problems. She has been hospitalized in ICU for Diabetic Ketoacidosis 3 times. This condition is life threatening.
Jazzy's family decided to get a Diabetic Alert Dog (DAD) to help Jazzy know if her blood glucose was high or low. The Holman's found a reputable breeder in Moreland, Georgia which is just out of Atlanta. Louter Creek Retrievers and Gundogs breeds and trains Standard poodles to be hunting dogs. They own and train Cooper known for his role in Duck Dynasty as Uncle Si's hunting dog, Killer. Cooper is Journey's Father.
Jazzy, her Mom Pam and local SLC trainer KC Owens went to GA to pick up Journey. KC own and operates Tattle Tail Scent Dogs and she breeds and trains DADs. Journey is 8 weeks old. He is a Service Dog in training and although he has a lot of work ahead of him, he has already started alerting to highs.
It is obvious to see that Jazzy and Journey absolutely love each other. They are going to have a long loving relationship.
And a big shout out to Jazzy's mom, Pam Holman for helping me write this post about Jazz and her Journey.
